Level 5 - Health and Social Care
Course Overview
The Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care is equivalent to the second year of an undergraduate degree, providing a deeper and more advanced understanding of the sector. Building on the foundation laid by the Level 4 Diploma, this qualification further develops students’ knowledge by introducing new concepts and applying them to real-life issues and situations that impact individuals and communities.
The course emphasises critical thinking, problem-solving, and the practical application of theory to address complex challenges in health and social care, preparing learners for higher-level roles or further academic study in the field. The course is made up of 5 Level 5 modules (120 credits), and each module consists of approximately 40 guided learning hours of material, with an additional 30-50 hours of optional learning material. These materials include recommended exercises, readings, and internet resources.
To complete the course, students are required to submit 5 online assignments, each assignment being approximately 2,000-3,000 words. Once you’ve completed your course, you will be awarded a Qualifi diploma, allowing you to apply for an exemption from the second year of a university degree program.

The Management of Quality in Health and Social Care

Partnership Working in Health and Social Care
The aim of this module is to enable learners to understand the importance of working positively in partnership with others in health and social care. Learners will explore the nature of partnership on three levels: firstly, partnerships with users of services that empower individuals to make informed decisions and encourage independence; secondly, partnerships between different professionals within health and social care, exploring inter-agency working; and finally, organisational partnerships and different ways of joint working.
Working with Service Users with Complex Needs
The aim of this unit is to help learners understand issues of health, disability, and illness, and how health care professionals can empower those with complex physical and mental health needs to determine their own care.
Students have access to multiple support systems throughout their learning journey. All of these are accessible through the student dashboard. Students will have access to the following:
