Course Overview
The Level 4 Diploma in IT and Web Design is tailored to provide students with the essential skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in web development. This diploma serves as a foundational program, focusing on the key aspects of creating, managing, and optimizing websites.
The diploma is aimed at equipping students with the technical expertise and practical skills necessary for a career in IT, web design, and development. Additionally, the course can serve as a pathway to further academic study, offering 120 credits that can be transferred towards a full UK university degree in IT, E-Commerce, Computing, Web Development, or a related discipline.
The course is made up of 10 Level 4 modules (120 credits) and each module consists of approximately 40 guided learning hours of material with an additional 30-50 hours of optional learning material. These materials comprise recommended exercises, recommended readings, and internet resources.
To complete the course, students are required to submit 10 online assignments, each assignment being approximately 2,000-3,000 words.

Computer Systems and Software: This module will develop learners’ understanding of the integration of hardware and software components.
Computer Programming: Learners will use different tools and techniques to design, implement, and test programs, following the system life cycle.
Relational Database Systems: This unit will develop learners’ understanding of database systems and data analysis and modelling.
Software Engineering: Learners will gain an understanding of the need for software engineering and the different methods and techniques.
Systems Analysis and Design: This module provides an understanding of IS concepts and how they relate to organizational needs in respect of business processes and transformation of information.
E-commerce Applications: This module explores the role of e-commerce in the modern world, particularly the identification of aims and objectives within a business and the design issues arising from the definition of requirements.
Human-Computer Interaction: This module will develop students’ understanding of principles and models of human-computer interaction and evaluate existing HCI design and principles to help them plan their own prototype multimedia user interface.
IT and Society: This module examines the impact of technology on society and explores trends and changes created. It will examine management issues and potential conflicts in terms of security and data management.
Information Systems Theory and Practice: This module explores elements of project management key to successful development and implementation of specific IT projects.
Management Information Systems: This module focuses on understanding concepts of information systems and how they support business needs in terms of information processing and data processing.

Completing the Level 4 Diploma in IT and Web Design prepares students for entry-level roles in web development and design. It also provides a solid foundation for further study, such as progressing to a Level 5 Diploma or other advanced qualifications in web development and related fields.
Additionally, the diploma provides a pathway to further academic study, with the opportunity to transfer 120 credits towards the second year of a UK university degree in IT, E-Commerce, Web Design and Development or a related field.

Once you’ve completed your online Level 4 & 5 IT and Web Design course, you have the opportunity to complete a third-year top-up degree programme, known as a ‘BA top-up’, from a wide range of UK universities. Students can also pursue a career in IT, Computing, and Web Design and Development within the public or private sectors.
Students can apply to any university offering the BA top-up, and you can choose to study for your degree either online or in-person on campus.
